Yeti PRO 4000 1.9.7 Firmware Update: Undisrupted Power and Improved Readings

Yeti PRO 4000 1.9.7 Firmware Update: Undisrupted Power and Improved Readings

Latest Firmware Update: October 19, 2026

A free firmware update for a better, more reliable experience with your Yeti PRO 4000

The short answer: Yeti PRO 4000 firmware 1.9.7 is a free over-the-air update delivered through the Goal Zero Power app. It keeps AC ports running through brief battery communication blips, double-checks low-battery readings before shutting down, sharpens State-of-Charge accuracy, and makes Charge Profiles and Port Restore stick across restarts.

We've upgraded the software for the Goal Zero Yeti® PRO 4000 power station to make it steadier, smarter, and more reliable than ever. To get the best experience from your Yeti PRO 4000, update the firmware in the Goal Zero Power app. Open the app on your phone or device, and it'll prompt you to update.

Firmware 1.9.7 introduces a new way for your Yeti to talk to its battery. It now checks battery signals before acting on them, so a single stray reading can't trigger a shutdown or an unexpected change. You also get sharper battery percentage (State of Charge) reporting, a more reliable Port Restore feature, and smoother over-the-air updates from here on.

What's new in Yeti PRO 4000 firmware 1.9.7?

  • Steady AC power: A brief battery communication error no longer shuts off your AC port.
  • Smarter low-battery protection: The Yeti now checks a single low cell reading against the rest of the pack before shutting down, so a healthy battery stays on.
  • Tank PRO-ready: Each connected Tank PRO 4000 gets the same protection, and connecting a Tank no longer turns off the AC port while it reports its first readings. Keep Tanks connected and powered on for the whole update so they update too.
  • More accurate battery %: Pack-voltage checks at key points, especially near empty and full, prevent large State-of-Charge jumps. Packs are also less likely to drift to deep low voltage while sitting idle, even with a charge source attached.
  • Better runtime estimates: Time-to-empty calculations, low-battery port cut-offs, and app notifications are all more accurate.
  • Smoother updates: Extra timeouts and fail-safe starting states make future over-the-air updates more reliable.
  • Settings that stick: Charge Profiles and Port Restore are more reliable and saved through power cycles, with or without a connected Tank or RVES display.

What bugs does firmware 1.9.7 fix?

  • The battery % shown on the device, in the app, and on an external display now match.
  • Settings you choose from the device display menu are no longer lost.
  • Impossible lifetime energy values (a very large kWh number on the display, a negative value in the app, or energy history stuck at zero) correct themselves after the update.

Your Yeti PRO 4000 now has checks in place to prevent a stray reading from incorrectly cutting off your power.

What should I check before updating?

  • Update the app first. Get the latest Goal Zero Power app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Get a strong Wi-Fi signal. On the unit, go to Display Menu → Device Info → Wi-Fi. Aim for stronger than −50 dBm (closer to 0). Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • Plan for a short power pause. Outputs can turn off for several minutes during the update, so move critical devices to another power source first.
  • Start with a charged battery. Make sure your Yeti PRO 4000 battery is at 20% or higher 50V or higher to allow for an update. *If it won't accept AC charging, contact support before updating.
  • Let it finish. Don't power off the Yeti or unplug a Tank.

What if my firmware update doesn't work?

Most hiccups clear up quickly. Start at the top and work down:

If you see… Try this
No update prompt Update the app, then go to Device Settings → Firmware Version.
App can't find your Yeti Check that the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi icons are blinking. If not, hold the PAIR button on the back for about 5 seconds until it beeps.
Connected to Wi-Fi, not the cloud Check signal strength in Display Menu → Device Info and improve it to better than −50 dBm. Still stuck? Try again a little later.
Update stalls or fails Power cycle: unplug all inputs, switch the Master Power Button OFF, wait about 30 seconds, switch it back ON, and retry.
Display or ports act oddly afterward Internal reset: with the unit on, hold PAIR (back) and LIGHT (display) together for about 3 seconds until the screen flickers.

Yeti PRO 4000 firmware 1.9.7 FAQ

Is the Yeti PRO 4000 firmware 1.9.7 update free?

Yes. Firmware 1.9.7 is free for every Yeti PRO 4000 owner and installs over the air through the Goal Zero Power app.

How do I check which firmware version my Yeti PRO 4000 has?

In the Goal Zero Power app, open Device Settings and tap Firmware Version. On the unit, go to Display Menu → Device Info → Versions.

Do I need Wi-Fi to update?

Yes. You will need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network or mobile hotspot. Don’t connect through a router that’s plugged into your Yeti. Your Yeti’s outputs turn off during the update, so that router would lose power and drop the connection. Use a different router or a hotspot. Your Yeti needs a stable Wi-Fi connection to the Goal Zero cloud. For best results, keep signal strength stronger than −50 dBm (check it under Display Menu → Device Info).

Will my devices lose power during the update?

Outputs can turn off for several minutes while the firmware installs. Move critical loads such as medical devices, sump pumps, or freezers to another power source before you start.

Does firmware 1.9.7 work with Tank PRO 4000 expansion batteries?

Yes. Keep Tanks connected and powered on for the whole update so they update too. The new protections apply to each connected Tank PRO 4000, and connecting a Tank no longer turns off the AC port while it reports its first readings.

Will updating erase my Charge Profiles or Port Restore settings?

No. Firmware 1.9.7 makes Charge Profiles and Port Restore more reliable and saves them through updates and power cycles.

Why does my battery percentage look different after the update?

Firmware 1.9.7 adds voltage-based checks that correct State of Charge, especially near empty and full. A one-time adjustment is normal, and your device, app, and display will now show the same value.

What should I do if the update fails?

Check your Wi-Fi signal, power cycle your Yeti (Master Power OFF for about 30 seconds, then ON), and try again. Still stuck? Contact Goal Zero support at (888) 794-6250 or support@goalzero.com.
